I completely understand that!
I am also too deeply into the 50 to 70’s music to pay much attention to music past that era… with some exceptions of course. Furthermore the recording/ mastering quality has been deteriorating in quality in most mainstream music, terribly compressed for my liking and unsuitable for Hi-Fi listening.
Parallel to that, we have the “Audiophile” labels (new catalog or reissues) that although commendable in some aspects, it is not choice, mainly for the high prices.
That said, we have available an immense quantity of great music in amazingly sounding CDs and that is were my interest lays on :)

Just released new album recorded live in 2024. Polish trumpeter Piotr Schmidt made his arrangements and plays music of Krzysztof Komeda.

Rameau & Debussy: 150 Years Apart, Same DNA

I’ve been spinning this Víkingur Ólafsson album almost every week lately, and it’s just stunning. If you haven't heard it yet, you're missing out on a masterclass in both mood and recording quality.

What’s the deal with this pairing?
Even though there's a 150-year gap between them, Rameau (the Baroque genius) and Debussy (the Impressionist rebel) feel like soulmates here.

Sonic Architecture: Both were obsessed with the "color" of sound rather than heavy drama. On a high-end system, the way Ólafsson captures the resonance and the "air" between the notes is pure bliss.

Nature in High-Def: Rameau’s bird imitations and Debussy’s water reflections share the same delicate, precise DNA.

The Vibe: It’s incredibly elegant and restrained. No "German heaviness" here—just pure, transparent French brilliance.

Ólafsson blends them so well that sometimes you forget which century you’re in. It’s one of those rare albums that is both intellectually fascinating and a perfect "chill-out" record.

Demo track tip: Check out The Arts and the Hours—it sounds so modern you’d never guess the original was written in 1737!

Absolutely must have if you love piano :)
